It is one thing to make things look good on a screen; but it's even better to give them purpose and functionality. That is the essence of Interactive Multimedia; designing functional applications for an intended audience, for a specific purpose. Generally these applications consist of rich interactive content developed for the web, for CD-ROM or DVD/DVD-ROM or stand-alone installations.
I have had many years experience now both in developing Interactive Multimedia, and teaching it. It is definitely a true passion of mine. I have come to love Macromedia products over the years with likes of wonderful authoring environments such as Flash and Director. Now I have another reason to love Adobe.
Multimedia Exhibit 05 (2005)

Description: Part of my role as academic lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology (Monash University) was to help coordinate the annual multimedia exhibition. This product is an interface that allows access to a student database and provides information on students for potential employers as well as launching individual student portfolios on demand.
Tools: Built in Macromedia flash with full dynamic content. The Interface was deployed on 30 Machines running windows and caters for all participating multimedia students (usually 80+). This iteration is an improvement on the previous years system.
Flash Comp 05 (2005)

Description: To compliment the 2005 Multimedia Exhibition at FIT Monash, I also coordinated a Macromedia Flash Animation competition for Victorian high schools. This application served as a presentation platform for the finalist entries and was used to demonstrate the work at the exhibition where the winning entries were announced.
Tools: Authored in Macromedia Director, this application uses Flash elements that communicate user interactivity to director and allows for the simple navigation and playback of the finalist animation entries.
Alias 3D Comp 05 (2005)

Description: FIT at Monash also ran a 3D competition for Australian high schools sponsored by Alias. This application served as a presentation platform for the finalist entries and was used to demonstrate the work at the exhibition where the winning entries were announced.
Tools: Authored in Macromedia Director, this application uses Flash elements that communicate user interactivity to director and allows for the simple navigation and playback of the finalist animation and still image entries.
DVD Authoring (2005)

Description: Over the past several years I have taken many hours of family footage on digital video. I have taken the time to catalogue this footage into DVD Video format for easy playback and also to be able to send to international in-laws.
Tools: Authoring has been undertaken in a range of applications including Sony DVD Architect, Adobe Encore and more recently DVD Studio Pro.

E-Learning Applications (2002)

Description: For several years I was employed by Instant Recall Australia as a multimedia developer. Whilst there we undertook a series of e-learning jobs for clients such as Telstra and Commander. These content rich, interactive and animated applications served the purpose of training employees in many areas of job description from call centres to technical support and services depending on the client at hand.
Tools: These e-learning applications were typically developed using Macromedia Flash and deployed on the internet and/or client intranet and often included administration and tracking services in order to grade and justify an employees progress and participation within the application.
Induction Applications (2002)

Description: Other work undertaken whilst at Instant Recall Australia was the development of interactive inductions. We developed many of these applications for a range of high profile clients such as Monash University and Smorgan Steel. These content rich, interactive and animated applications served the purpose of inducting employees into a new company and covered content such as Employment Rights and Occupational Health and Safety.
Tools: These Inductions were typically developed using Macromedia Director and deployed on cd-rom. They often included administration and tracking services in order to grade and justify an employees progress and participation within the application.
