It's been a while!

It has been 16 months already.
Life is going well in Norway. We have bought a beautiful house on the island of Tromøy, in Arendal. We are well settled now and things are great in general.

Sebastian is loving Norway and has made a lot of friends already. He is fluent in Norwegian, in fact it only took him a month or two since we first arrived. Astrid is doing well too, she managed our recent australian visit very well and it was great for everyone down there to finally meet her. Eliann is doing well too, she is still enjoying her maternity leave with Astrid and will do so for a few months more before considering going back to work.

I have spent the last 14 months learning a little Norwegian and working for a company called Chord where I have been developing games for the web. It has been a fun job and kept me entertained and up to date with my skillset. I have been doing a lot of Object Oriented Programming in Flash (Actionscript 2.0 and 3.0) as well as doing graphic design and art asset creation for the games. A lot of the content has been modelled and animated in Autodesk Maya, so I have managed to refine my 3D skillset a little also.

I appologise for the lack of updates, but we have been keeping ourselves busy lately. I will try to post a little more often, but I really dont want to turn this site into a blog.

It's a new car!

We bought a new car this week.
A 1999 Ford Focus Stationwagon. It is nothing too flash, but enough to get us around and make us that little bit more independent. Our apartment should be ready sometime in October - we are looking forward to that, it's a really nice place.

Well, the summer weather has been glorious, and we have been doing our best to make the most of it. A lot of boat trips with swimming, shrimp eating and having a 'grillfest' with throw away barbeques.

This weekend we plan on taking a few days up at the cabin. It will be a nice getaway with no electricity, and a fresh well for water. Apparently there is a lot of reindeer around the cabin at this time of year, so it would nice to spot a few. Some fishing and nice mountain walks ahead I think!

Our container is due to arrive in a few days, so it won't be long until we have all of our belongings. It hasn't really been a problem living without them for the past month, but it will be great to have a few prize possessions accessible again.

First days in Norway!

My first hello from Norway.
I have been in Norway for almost a week now and things couldn't be better. After too many hours spent on planes or in airports it was great to reach Oslo and spend some time getting to know the Norwegian capital. We didn't have much time there, but we managed to appreciate the city and some if its cultural offerings. A few days later and I am typing this post at 11pm while the sun is now slowly descending to the horizon after another sunny day in the mid to high 20's.

Days have been filled with trips to the town center, bathing in the ocean, taking walks through the forest picking wild strawberries and blueberries and enjoying the evenings watching the World Cup, playing poker and drinking beer. We have some boat trips planned soon, and we are eager to visit the cabin up in the mountains.

All in all, it has been a great start, Sebastian is having a great time, Eliann has been enjoying her time catching up with friends and it's been great spending time with the family. Photos will come soon.

One day to go!

Well, this is it.
Tomorrow at 4pm, we fly out of Melbourne. A quick stop in Singapore, and we continue to Vienna for another stop-over before our final flight to Oslo. We are going to stay in Oslo for 2 days, see some sights and then drive back to Arendal on Sunday.

So this will be the last post I write from Australia for a while. A sad occasion, but exciting nonetheless. We are off on one hell of an adventure. Should I cry, or should i smile? Maybe a little of both.

Goodbye everybody~. Take care of yourselves. Love you all!!!

The merged version of the site is now complete!

Welcome to my online portal.
There are a few reasons I decided to build this site. Firstly, it's a great way for me to share with colleagues some of my work, past experiences and qualifications. Secondly, this site is a family portal that will allow me to communicate with my Australian family while I am living in Norway. Thirdly, the site acts as an online playground in which I can experiment and improve my web development skill set.

Family content on this website is secure and all sensitive content is protected. You can only enter certain areas of the site with a valid user/pass. If you do not currently have access to the site, and would like me to add you as a registered member you will need to email me directly.

I will be making minor adjustments to the site here and there but the bulk of the functionality is now working.
